Architectural paint research conference makes U.S. debut
The Third International Conference for Architectural Paint Research in Building Conservation was held in the United States for the first time on Jan. 17-19, 2008.
Hosted by Columbia University, the conference brought conservationists from around the world together to share discoveries and discuss techniques in the field of architectural paint research.
Following a keynote address by Willie Graham, an architectural historian at Colonial Williamsburg, Va., the three-day conference featured paper presentations from more than half a dozen countries. Subjects included the cultural significance of architectural coatings, the development of paint materials throughout history, and the application of analytical techniques in architectural conservation.
